Alexian Brothers Health System -- which follows the principles set forth by St. Alexius of Rome, the patron of beggars and pilgrims -- runs two acute care medical centers, a psychiatric hospital, and a rehabilitation hospital. It also operates numerous occupational health and community health clinics in the northwestern suburbs of Chicago, as well as home health and hospice agencies. With some 800 beds, the system's hospitals emphasize such specialties as cardiology, obstetrics, orthopedics, and oncology.
